We couldn’t do our work effectively without the combined efforts of colleagues, concerned citizens, legislators and the advocates we have trained through our Community Leadership Initiative. It really does take a village.

  • Participating in rulemaking
  • Public education and outreach

What We Know

  • New Hampshire has serious alcohol and other drug problems.
  • The economic costs of alcohol and other drug use disorders are staggering and include lost productivity and increased health care, public safety, and criminal justice costs.
  • Addiction is a chronic, relapsing, progressive and treatable disease.
  • Certain policies are more effective in addressing problems associated with alcohol and other drug use than others; different policies are needed to address substance use problems in the United States.

What We Support

  • State and local policies that support prevention, treatment and recovery oriented efforts to reduce alcohol and other drug problems.
  • Efforts to integrate mental health, substance use disorder and physical health care.
  • Public funding for community-based prevention, treatment and recovery services for New Hampshire citizens.
  • Adequate insurance coverage for substance use disorder treatment.
