The Good News
Underage alcohol problems are making the news! This is thanks in part to close to 20 community events focused on the problems associated with underage drinking that took place around the state in recent months. They were advertised as “town hall meetings,” “community conversations,” and “forums.” No matter what they were called, all provided an opportunity for parents, students and professionals to gather together and for better understanding of underage alcohol problems and what communities can do about them. Several events included panelists from the addiction treatment, law enforcement and medical fields. People in recovery and youth were also featured. Events like these are valuable, not just for the conversations in the room, but for the media coverage and conversations they spark around the community.
