The Tom Fox scholarships recognize prevention and treatment professionals for contributions to alcohol and other drug services in New Hampshire. New Futures will say good bye to four board members and welcome four new board members this summer. Mike Sullivan, Margaret Desfosses, Chris Rath, and Boyd Bush will end their service on the board of directors and the following individuals will begin serving on the board:
Mike Buckley recently retired after 30 years with the New Hampshire Office of the Legislative Budget Assistant. Prior to retiring, he was appointed to six consecutive two year terms by a joint ten member legislative committee to direct the Office. He is a CPA and received his bachelor degree from Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH. He served on the School Board in Derry from 1994-2000 and has been a long time volunteer for NH Special Olympics.
Nick Halias is the Chief of the UNH Police Department in Durham and a forty year veteran of New Hampshire law enforcement; retired New Hampshire State Police Major with assignments as commander of Narcotics and Intelligence Unit; Governor's Executive Protection Unit and Investigative Services Bureau; graduate of the FBI National Academy. He holds a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Fitchburg State College and is an adjunct faculty member for the Granite State College.
Yvonne Goldsberry is Senior Director of Community Health at Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene and is responsible for oversight of the Community Health Department and the Keene area healthiest community initiative. Previously, Yvonne served as Administrator of the NH Community Public Health Development Unit and as program manager for the development of a SAMSA methadone Treatment Improvement Protocol. After Brown University, she received her Masters’ Columbia University, and PhD in Public Policy from George Washington University.
Lisa Peakes has been hosting shows on NH Public Radio since 2000. She’s been instrumental in creating the “Giving New Hampshire” series of radio spots that highlight nonprofit organizations in the state. During her many years on commercial radio, Lisa created and hosted programs featuring all kinds of music. She studied chemistry and food science at Framingham State College, majored in Acting at Emerson College, and graduated from Vermont College at Norwich University with a concentration in Studio Art.
