Notes from the President
I was reviewing the excellent materials developed for National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month and want to focus my comments on this important opportunity. In September we will celebrate a major milestone, the 20th anniversary of Recovery Month. The 2009 September recovery month theme is Join the Voices for Recovery: Together We Learn, Together We Heal. The recovery month materials available via the internet provide a toolkit with easy-to-use fact sheets and resources to educate people about the disease of addiction, and will assist you to plan ways to garner community support and media attention for treatment and recovery. Please take a few minutes to review the materials on-line and make a commitment to at least one Recovery Month activity in September. www.recoverymonth.gov
