2010 Legislative Session Previews

ed by New Futures’ Policy Director, this one-hour session will provide a preview of New Futures’ legislative and policy priorities for the 2010 session. This may include bills that New Futures will monitor along with those in which we are actively involved. Participants will meet in Concord (location TBA) or connect via tele-conference. This session will be offered in the morning and repeated in the afternoon to maximize accessibility.
Capitol Visits
Tuesday, January 19, 2010, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or
Tuesday, March 2, 2010, 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.
A guided visit to the New Hampshire State Capitol and Legislative Office Building. This visit, led by New Futures’ policy director and government relations consultant, will provide partners with an up close and personal opportunity to experience policymaking in action. Partners will be encouraged to visit with their legislators later in the day.
Treatment in New Hampshire
Wednesday, April 21, 2010, 9am -12pm
Led by New Future’s Director of Closing the Addiction Treatment Gap (CATG). This session will provide a brief primer on the nature of addiction and an explanation of what treatment is. In addition, partners will learn about barriers to accessing treatment in NH and advocacy work being done to alleviate the situation. New Hampshire’s CATG, funded by the Open Society Institute and the NH Charitable Foundation, intends to close the “gap” between those who need addiction treatment in New Hampshire and those few who receive it.
