The Community Leadership Initiative(CLI) supports the goals of New Futures to reduce underage alcohol problems and increase access to treatment in New Hampshire through the development of a state-wide network of advocates, referred to as Leadership Partners. This network of advocates is periodically mobilized to take action on important policy issues, primarily on a state level, by contacting their elected representatives.
CLI identifies individuals who are concerned about these issues in their communities and throughout the state, and extends an invitation to join other like-minded, yet diverse individuals in advocating for change.
Participation in CLI begins with attendance at a one-day leadership retreat designed to provide information, enhance skills, and empower individuals to take action. A particular focus of the leadership retreat is educating participants on the New Hampshire Legislature, the legislative process, and effective advocacy. A basic belief of CLI is the power of a single individual to impact public policy. Retreat participants report greater confidence contacting their elected officials.
